Councillor Sue Reece and Councillor Pearl Malpas have been re-elected as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chilton, continuing their civic leadership for a second consecutive term. Their appointments were reaffirmed by Chilton Town Council at the annual meeting on the 12th<\/sup> May where the Town\u2019s politically independent Council presented the Annual Statement for 2025\/-26 and members reconfirmed their commitment to serving the Chilton Community, delivering community projects and local initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a shared statement regarding their continuation in office, Mayor Reece and Deputy Mayor Malpas expressed their ongoing gratitude to the town. “We are honoured to represent the Chilton community, they noted, highlighting their continued focus on supporting local groups through our Community Grants, raising funds for local charities and managing services like allotments and play areas, and most importantly giving residents a strong voice in the region.<\/p>\n

Mayor Sue Reece said \u201cit was a privilege to assist in raising the town\u2019s profile by showcasing Chilton\u2019s many attributes including the talents of our residents across the wider Durham community, alongside bringing in external funding to improve local assets and infrastructure. With the help of our very generous community and the support of fellow council members the Mayor\u2019s fund raised \u00a33500 in cash donation for blood Cancer and local children young people\u2019s projects, plus over \u00a3500 worth of gift donations for the Chilton Christmas Toy Appeal.\u201d <\/p>\n

This year the Mayor\u2019s Charity will focus on supporting Mental Health Charities that work within our community and the Town Council will once again organise the Christmas Toy Appeal.<\/p>\n
