{"id":3872,"date":"2026-06-30T17:02:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T16:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chiltondurham-tc.gov.uk\/?p=3872"},"modified":"2026-06-30T17:02:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T16:02:31","slug":"miners-welfare-recreation-ground-is-recruiting-a-part-time-volunteer-co-ordinator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chiltondurham-tc.gov.uk\/index.php\/2026\/06\/30\/miners-welfare-recreation-ground-is-recruiting-a-part-time-volunteer-co-ordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Miners Welfare Recreation Ground is recruiting a part time Volunteer Co-ordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miners Welfare Recreation Ground is the Charity Trust of Chilton Town Council, established<br>in 1920 to be applied to \u201cpurposes connected with social wellbeing, recreation and<br>conditions of living, of workers in or about coal mines\u201d it continues to deliver its mission to<br>promote wellbeing and enhance social engagement for the Chilton and Windlestone<br>community (which still include the former mining families) through leisure, recreation and<br>sport and build on its heritage and purpose, contributing to improving social cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who can help build a<br>volunteer team to deliver the key objectives of our funded heritage project Chilton: Our<br>People, Our Place, Our Heritage and support the long-term sustainability of the Charity<br>Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The Heritage Lottery funded project focuses on transforming the 1920\u2019s Pavilion Building<br>and Park into a Heritage Exhibition Centre and community hub. You will play a key role in<br>recruiting and supporting volunteers across a range of activities including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Archive &amp; Research: Uncover, catalogue, and preserve local stories and<br>photographs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Outreach: Guide visitors, run family activities, and share Chilton\u2019s<br>history<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Site &amp; Grounds: Help maintain and develop the Miners\u2019 Welfare Recreation Ground.<br>You should have a proven track record of volunteer management or co-ordination in a<br>heritage or community project and experience of working to set targets and achieving positive<br>outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person appointed will be directly responsible to the Project Lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role is ten hours per week including evening and weekend work, fixed term for 12 months.
