Durham Road Chilton County Durham DL17 0HE

Chilton marked Armed Forces Day with a show of support on Sunday 28th June. Members of the community were invited to this year’s Armed Forces Day commemorations, paying tribute to the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in His Majesty’s Armed Forces.

The ceremony included readings and music, held in the shadow of the Armed Forces Day flag. It provided an opportunity for the community to come together in recognition of the contribution made by our Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

Thanks are given to Town Crier Norman Strongman, Andrew Hughes, Brenda Collins, Michelle Morley and all those who helped towards the event.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to the Mayor’s Armed Forces Day Coffee Morning, where refreshments were served and funds were raised in support of Combat Stress, a charity providing specialist clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces.

Mayor Sue Reece, Deputy Mayor Pearl Malpas and all Councillors and Officers would like to thank everyone who attended, together with all those who contributed to the event and supported the fundraising, helping to ensure the day was marked with the dignity, respect and community spirit that this important occasion deserves.
