Chilton Cemetery Overview
Chilton Town Council is a burial authority responsible for maintaining its own cemetery and burial records. While the gates of Chilton Cemetery are not locked, visitors are requested to close them upon leaving.

Garden of Remembrance
- Families can install plaques for loved ones who are not buried in the cemetery or as an additional memorial.
- Application Form Required
- Note: This area must not be used for vases, flowers, or other memorials.

- The Council welcomes family history and genealogy requests.
- There is a charge for search services, with details provided upon request.

After Burial
- Graves are left slightly mounded for settlement, and flowers are placed by staff after backfilling.
- Seeding over grave plots occurs after a settlement period of at least 12 weeks, depending on weather and ground conditions.
- Ornaments and plants should not be placed during this period.

Grave Purchase
- Requirement: You must purchase a grave plot for full burials or ashes interment.
- Upon purchase, an Exclusive Right of Burial (EROB) is issued, granting:
- Right to allow burials and erect memorials.
- Maintenance of the grave.
- A legal deed is provided, which must be kept safe.
- Planning for the Future:
- Ensure burial deeds are mentioned in wills for easier transfer.
- For prepaid funerals, purchasing a plot in advance may be required.
