The Annual Chilton Show – something for everyone
Event overview
The Annual Chilton Show once again brought together the local community, along with visitors from further afield, for a lively and well-attended day at the Charlie Wayman Recreation Ground.
With the weather holding throughout the day, families, residents and guests enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment, activities and displays. The event celebrated local talent, creativity and community spirit, with something on offer for all ages.
Highlights from the day
The show featured a wide variety of attractions, demonstrations and community activities. Visitors were able to enjoy craft and horticultural classes, with entries from people of all ages, alongside live entertainment and family-friendly attractions.
Competitions and entries
Craft and horticultural classes welcomed entries from across the community, showcasing creativity, skill and local pride.
Entertainment and displays
Attractions included the Town Crier, a Piper, music from Brenda Collins, Falconry Days displays, Leon’s exotic animals and True Trades blacksmith demonstrations.
Family activities
Visitors also enjoyed free face painting, tombolas and a wide range of stalls and vendors throughout the event.
New for 2025
New features introduced this year proved especially popular. RPM Bike Displays, sponsored by the Banks Community Fund, presented a series of demonstrations to launch the Boards, Bikes and Brushes: Chilton Young People’s Project.
Visitors also welcomed Chi Chilton Taekwondo, who are looking to re-establish the martial arts club in the town, and Bishop FM, who broadcast live from the main marquee.
Thanks to the community
Chilton Town Council, as event organisers, would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event. The day was made possible by the contribution of community groups, volunteers, judges and partner organisations who worked hard to make the show a success.
Thanks go to all those involved, including Chilton Scout Group, Great Aycliffe Rotary, Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group, St John’s Ambulance, NERAMS and the Police. Special thanks also go to the volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day and to the judges who took on the difficult task of selecting winners from so many strong entries.
Special guest
The council was delighted to welcome Neil Schneider DL, who joined the judging of the horticultural and craft classes as well as the ever-popular Chilton Dog Show.
“What a great well organised and fun event. There are some amazing people and organisations doing some amazing things for the community of which you all should be very very proud.”
