Grounds Maintenance by Chilton Town Council
Chilton Town Council is proud to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the green spaces that make our town a pleasant and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.
What We Look After
The Council is responsible for the upkeep of various public green areas across Chilton. These include:
- Flower beds – carefully planted and maintained to provide seasonal colour and support local biodiversity.
- Grass cutting – regular mowing of designated green spaces to keep them tidy and accessible for all.
The areas we maintain are clearly marked in green on the town map below, helping residents and visitors easily identify where the Council’s responsibilities lie.
The Council is also responsible for the beautiful hanging baskets that adorn our main street and the cemetery.
Together, we’re keeping Chilton green and growing!
Allotments
We provide allotments for residents who wish to grow their own fruits, vegetables, and flowers. We have 5 sites are:
- Hambleton Way 1 and Hambleton Way 2 (either side of Joe’s Field)
- Prospect Terrace
- West Chilton Terrace (south side of the bypass)
- West Chilton Terrace (north side of the bypass)
Our allotments are well-maintained and offer a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby. For more information and details on how to apply, please see our ALLOTMENTS page.
Cemetery
Our cemetery is a peaceful and well-kept space for the community to honour and remember their loved ones.
We try ensure that the grounds are respectfully maintained throughout the year.
For more information on our cemetery and the rules and responsibilities, please see our CEMETERY page
Playgrounds
Our playgrounds are designed to be safe and enjoyable spaces for children. We regularly inspect and maintain the equipment to ensure a fun and secure environment for play. Check out our PLAYGROUNDS page for information on our playgrounds and where to find them.
Repair and Maintenance of Rubbish Bins
While we do not empty rubbish bins, we ensure that they are in good repair and properly maintained for public use.
Repair and Maintenance of Dog Bins
Similar to rubbish bins, we take care of the repair and maintenance of dog bins to ensure they are functional.
Bus Shelters
We are responsible for the maintenance of a number of bus shelters within the town. These shelters provide comfort and protection for residents while they wait for public transport.
